Skin Boosters in East Kilbride

Skin boosters sit in a category of their own. They are not dermal fillers, and they are not anti-wrinkle injections. Rather than adding volume or relaxing muscle, they work at the level of skin quality itself — hydration, elasticity, firmness, and that difficult-to-define “glow” that comes from healthy skin.

At Alchemy Clinic in East Kilbride, skin booster treatments are delivered by experienced clinicians following a full skin consultation. Our approach is conservative, evidence-based, and designed to work alongside — not replace — good daily skincare.

Consultations start from £30.

What skin boosters do

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality from the inside out. They typically contain hyaluronic acid in a thinner, more spreadable form than standard dermal fillers, sometimes combined with amino acids, vitamins, or other bioactive ingredients depending on the product.

Rather than filling a specific crease or restoring a lost volume compartment, they distribute through the skin itself, attracting water and stimulating the fibroblast cells that produce collagen and elastin. Over a course of treatments, this typically produces:

  • Improved skin hydration and a more radiant, less tired appearance.

  • A subtle improvement in firmness and skin elasticity.

  • Softening of fine lines that are driven by skin quality rather than muscle movement.

  • A smoother, more even skin texture over time.

Skin boosters are not the right choice if your main concern is deep volume loss, pronounced lines caused by muscle movement, or pigmentation — those concerns are better addressed with different treatments, which we will discuss at consultation if that is the direction that suits you better.

Who skin boosters suit

Skin boosters tend to be most popular with patients who:

  • Feel their skin looks tired, dehydrated, or has lost its glow.

  • Are starting to notice skin quality changes but do not feel ready for filler or anti-wrinkle treatment.

  • Want a treatment that works gradually rather than producing an immediate change.

  • Are already having other treatments and want to improve underlying skin quality.

  • Have thin, crepey skin on the neck, décolletage, or backs of the hands that is not responding to skincare alone.

They are also a popular pre-event choice when started several months ahead of time, and pair well with good at-home skincare.

Areas we treat

Skin boosters can be used on:

  • The face — particularly the cheeks, lower face, and peri-oral area where skin quality tends to show signs of ageing.

  • The neck — an area often under-treated, where skin boosters can make a meaningful difference to texture and crepeyness.

  • The décolletage — fine lines and sun-related skin changes on the chest respond well to a course of treatments.

  • The backs of the hands — a commonly neglected area where skin quality ages visibly.

The right combination depends on what you would like to achieve, and will be recommended as part of your consultation and treatment plan.

Polynucleotides and related treatments

Alongside traditional hyaluronic acid-based skin boosters, we also offer polynucleotide treatments — a newer category of injectable that works by supporting the skin’s own repair and regeneration processes. Polynucleotides are particularly popular for the under-eye area and for patients specifically focused on skin quality and tissue repair rather than hydration alone.

Which product or combination suits you best is a conversation for the consultation. We will explain the differences clearly and recommend based on your skin and your goals rather than on whatever is most visible in marketing that month.

Your consultation

Skin booster treatment at Alchemy begins with a consultation, which costs £30. During this appointment, your clinician will:

  1. Review your skin concerns, skincare routine, and medical history.

  2. Assess your skin quality — hydration, elasticity, texture, pigmentation, and overall condition.

  3. Talk through realistic expectations and the timeline over which you will see change.

  4. Recommend a treatment plan — which may be skin boosters alone, or a combination including skincare and other treatments.

  5. Provide transparent pricing for the recommended course, with no pressure to decide on the day.

We will also be honest about what skincare you could be doing better at home. Skin boosters work best when the skin they are being put into is already being looked after.

Treatment plan and results

Skin boosters typically work best as a course rather than a single appointment. A common approach is two to three initial treatments, spaced around four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to twelve months depending on the product and the individual response.

Results develop gradually. You may notice improved hydration within a couple of weeks, but the more meaningful changes in texture and firmness build over the course of treatments and the weeks that follow.

Because this is a gradual improvement rather than an instant change, we take photographs at each visit so that progress is measurable rather than subjective.

The treatment itself

A skin booster appointment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. The product is administered through a series of small injections in the treatment area, often with the support of topical anaesthetic for comfort.

Most patients experience mild redness, small bumps (which usually settle within 24 hours), and occasional small bruises. You can return to normal activities the same day, though we suggest avoiding make-up, heavy exercise, and very hot environments for 24 hours afterwards.

Serving East Kilbride and the wider area

Alchemy Clinic is based in East Kilbride and regularly sees clients travelling from Hamilton, Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Bothwell, Uddingston, Newton Mearns, Giffnock, Clarkston, and across Glasgow South. Skin boosters are a popular choice among clients from the more affluent residential areas of Greater Glasgow where demand for maintenance skincare and subtle long-term treatment is strongest.

Frequently asked questions

Are skin boosters the same as dermal fillers?

No. Dermal fillers add volume and structure in a specific location. Skin boosters distribute through the skin to improve its overall quality — hydration, elasticity, texture. They look and work quite differently, even when the underlying ingredient is hyaluronic acid.

How soon will I see a difference?

You may notice improved hydration and a softer appearance within a couple of weeks. More meaningful changes in firmness and texture develop over the course of treatments and the weeks that follow.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically two to three initial treatments spaced around four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to twelve months. Your treatment plan will be confirmed at consultation.

Is there any downtime?

Minimal. You may have small raised bumps at the injection sites for up to 24 hours, and occasionally small bruises. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

Can I have skin boosters alongside other treatments?

Yes, often. Skin boosters combine well with anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, and good skincare. We will build this into your treatment plan at consultation.

Can I have treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Skin booster treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
